New Era: Taylor Smith Says Goodbye to Pro Soccer, and hello to Pretty T

Credit: Dillon McNeil

The UCLA alum and former USWNT player has had a notable career with stops including the North Carolina Courage, Washington Spirit, Reign FC, winning the 2023 NWSL Championship with NJ/NY Gotham FC, and most recently a stint with Club Léon. Smith also appeared in the docu-series, The OffSeason with former teammate, Midge Purce and other NWSL players living in one house training before the new season.

Now officially announcing her retirement from professional soccer, Smith is transitioning to post playing life with the release of a new EP, VICES, (the first single “Be Like Me” is out now) marking a new path of self-expression and freedom. While navigating the busy streets of Brooklyn, where she is based, Taylor took some time to chat with, Gillian Williams (Forty-One Partner and Head of Music & Entertainment Partnerships), to share more about her new chapter of creative cultivation.

On Front Office Sports’ Portfolio Players, he talks mentorship under majority owner Bill Foley, why soccer’s global pull made sense for his portfolio, and how cross-sport ownership is opening new lanes for athletes and celebs. It’s a smart play that blends business, culture, and worldwide reach.
