INTERVIEW

Black Girls Play Soccer, and Darrelle Williams Is Putting It on Screen with his KICK Series.

KICK is the kind of story women’s soccer has been waiting for. Created by Darrelle Williams, the fictional series centers a young Black girl navigating the pressure, politics, and passion of the game, pulling directly from real player experiences to ground the story in truth. Built with care for authenticity on and off the pitch, KICK explores pay to play culture, identity, and ambition while pushing women’s soccer storytelling into new territory. It is a project rooted in representation, intention, and the belief that these stories deserve the spotlight.

We profiled the series creator Darrelle Williams and explored how his love for storytelling, culture, and women’s soccer intersected into a pursuit to spotlight Black women in the game.

FIFA creates $60 ticket tier for loyal fans

FIFA has slashed some ticket prices for the upcoming Club World Cup after the resale market has made attendance virtually impossible for the average person. FIFA said Tuesday that $60 tickets will be made available for every game at the tournament in North America, going to the national federations whose teams are playing. Those federations decide how to distribute them to loyal fans who have attended previous games at home and on the road.

Nike Reloads for 2026 with the Attack Pack

Nike is gearing up for the next cycle with the Attack Pack, a refreshed lineup across its key silos heading into 2026. The drop updates the Mercurial and Phantom with sharper color stories and tuned performance details built for speed, control, and touch. It’s a reset moment that signals where Nike Football is headed next, blending on-pitch function with visual energy as the game moves toward another major tournament year.

GAMES

Netflix has entered the chat with new FIFA game

Netflix is stepping into the football gaming space with a newly announced FIFA title, marking the first major release since EA Sports split from the franchise. The project is being developed by a newly formed studio with no shipped games yet, raising questions about timeline and execution. What’s clear is Netflix’s intent to build FIFA into a broader entertainment ecosystem that connects gaming, streaming, and global football culture. It’s a big swing that could reshape how fans interact with the sport off the pitch.

Madison has a new Women’s team to Rally behind

Madison’s newest women’s soccer club has officially unveiled its name and crest ahead of its first season, signaling the city’s next step into the women’s game. The identity is an homage to the Women's Suffrage Movement in Wisconsin in the early 1900s. Wisconsin was the first state to officially ratify the 19th Amendment in 1919, giving women the right to vote.
