CATCH A VIBE

Jamaican-born, Florida-based Rapper Cochise just wants to have fun!

Terrell Cox, AKA Cochise (pronounced coh-cheez), may come off like a regular guy who's obsessed with anime, cars, and soccer. Yet, if you listen to his unique catalog, it's evident that the 26-year-old Jamaican born rapper is actively carving out a new lane for himself in hip-hop with his eclectic sound.

Cochise has gained popularity not only for his distinctive voice and energetic delivery, but also for his creative integration of soccer references in his lyrics. Soccer references are not yet a common appearance in the American rap scene, but they are common in his young catalog.

This affinity for soccer could be reflective of his Jamaican heritage, where the sport holds significant cultural importance and could be from playing the sport when he was younger up until he chose music as his career path over going pro.

By incorporating soccer terminology and famous players into his lyrics, Cochise creates relatable and vivid imagery for fans of the sport, while also displaying his personal interests and cultural background.

Cochise's clever use of soccer references serves multiple purposes: it enhances his storytelling, aligns him with a broader international culture, and adds layers of meaning to his work. By drawing parallels between his rap prowess and the athletic excellence of soccer stars, Cochise effectively bridges the worlds of music and sports, appealing to a diverse and expansive audience.

Check out the following songs from Cochise and see if you can find the soccer references in them:
