Duality…Riqui Puig

Over the weekend LA Galaxy booked their ticket back to MLS Cup for the first time since their last ship in 2014 and have a chance to add a 6th star above the crest. The story of the game ended up being Galaxy’s superstar Riqui Puig putting the team on his back and playing last 30mins and assisting the winning goal after unknowingly rupturing his ACL. In the city of the late great Kobe, that was some serious #mambamentality right there 🐍
Forty-One Co-founder Rich Gordon captured the powerful moment of Riqui being consoled by his parents at the end of the match and had some thoughts on the moment.“The Beautiful Game is also Beautifully Cruel. At the end of the day I look to tell stories and translate emotion with my lens. The storyteller in me can’t help but see the humanity in these shots … fandom aside.I have always felt for athletes that go through moments like this.Pain, literally and figuratively. Sport gives and it takes. Duality.”
ON THE PITCH
Throwbacks: The Best Pre-NWSL Kits from WUSA and WPS
Before the NWSL, there was the WUSA (2001-2003) and WPS (2009-2012), two short-lived soccer leagues that served as the home for women’s professional soccer in the States.
To pay tribute to the contributions these leagues made in growing the women’s game in the US, Forty-One highlights the best jersey from each team from the WPS and WUSA.

WHAT TO WATCH
Christian Pulisic is getting a documentary on Paramount+
Christian Pulisic’s upcoming docuseries, PULISIC, debuts on Paramount+ starting December 9 as part of CBS Sports’ Stories from the Beautiful Game. The multi-season series will give fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the USMNT star’s journey—from his Hershey, Pennsylvania roots to his rise as a Champions League winner and leader of the national team. Highlighting his growth both on and off the pitch, including his time at AC Milan where he shined with 15 goals and 11 assists in his debut season, the series promises an intimate portrait of one of America’s brightest soccer talents.
The MLS Final is set! and it’s a battle of the coasts with the LA Galaxy repping the West and the NY Redbulls repping the East. The Galaxy are on a quest for six titles, and are looking to widen their championship gap with the rest of the league, but they’ll have to do it without their starboy Riqui Puig who suffered an ACL ingury in the Western Conf. Championship.
The Redbulls are looking to shake the stigma of being perennial underachievers by bringing home their first title as an MLS franchise. Be sure to tune in, it should be an exciting one in Carson, Ca.
